Alison was recently part of the ABC’s commentary team for the first ever Day Night Test match played between Australia and New Zealand in Adelaide. In joining the team she became the first woman to call a Test match ball by ball on the ABC. She also covered the historic match for BBC Test Match Special and BBC Radio Five Live.

5Live Sony Award

Alison was invited to the annual Sony Awards as 5Live picked up the top gong for Best Sports Programme, with her gymnastics commentary providing a series of memorable moments as the British Men won a medal for the first time in one hundred years. She was one of a number of commentators present to celebrate the award. 5Live picked up three gold awards in all.

England Cricket for 5Live

Alison will again be a voice of international cricket on BBC Radio 5Live when England take on first New Zealand, then Australia in the Ashes in the Northern Hemisphere Summer. Alison will broadcast live reports throughout each day of the 1st Test v NZ at Lord’s as well as the 3rd and 5th Ashes Tests. She will commentate on various ODIs and T20ints in between and will be leading the coverage of the women’s Ashes Test. Listen to BBC Radio 5Live

Indian Wells Tennis

Alison is part of the BBC Radio team providing play by play commentary for Five Live Sports Extra at the BNP Paribas Open, the biggest tennis tournament outside of the Grand Slams. Her presentation and commentary can also be heard on BNP Paribas Open Radio, via the tournament website until 17th March.

Sports Heritage Network

Alison hosted the closing panel discussion as part of the Sports Heritage Network conference ‘Moving the Goalposts: Sport in Transition, 2012′ conference, at Lord’s on 19th April. The host earlier in the day was journalist and TV presenter John Inverdale, as the conference examined contemporary and historical issues in sport in the year London hosts the Olympic Games. Panelists included former cricketer turned writer Ed Smith, former Zimbabwe cricketer Henry Olonga and former GB Athletics team captain Sir Menzies Campbell (MP). A keynote speech was delivered by triple jump world record holder Jonathan Edwards.
